An extravagant optician like Panis Eyewear stands out especially in a quiet town in the Dutch state of Noord-Brabant. The newly designed interior impresses with a professional lighting concept that sets and emphasizes the bold and welcoming atmosphere.
The optics shop in Oisterwijk uses the ground floor of a traditional gabled house on the local promenade “De Lind”. Customers have long valued the fashionable and personal selection of eyewear by Ruud Panis operator – with the redesign of the store, the interior is now the same. The renovation was planned by interior design firm King Kongs from Eindhoven, a young team that has made a name for itself with bold retail and restaurant interiors.
The appeal of this retail interior is based on the contrast between the showiness of the furniture and the functional lighting design, which focuses on the lighting effect rather than the decorative fixtures and is implemented with BÄRO as the lighting partner: Little, reduced design but carefully placed and aligned lighting technology puts the rich room concept into the stage and makes it It serves to structure in a supportive way. The special requirements of the designers were implemented by BÄRO Individual as bespoke products.
Decreased balance and wealth
The interior designers aimed to give the room a welcoming character, more reminiscent of a hotel lounge than a classic optician’s shop. The client largely gave them a free hand. That’s why the new interior surprises with an eclectic mix of styles and materials: daring but at the same time warm and friendly. Old pink upholstered furniture and Prussian blue walls are reminiscent of the colors of Flemish painting. Columns in the center of the room, furnished with shiny gold tiles, create a contemporary accent. However, the absolute eye-catcher of the interior is the right side wall, which is deceptively real as a raw rock made of concrete. In this stimulating environment, lighting not only perfectly studies the qualities of materials and surfaces, but also has an important task.
This task is accomplished by BÄRO’s Ontero IC spotlights, which, with their spot reflectors, create economical, precise lighting accents on eyeglass racks and cases. Its design, named “Winner” in the German Design Award 2020, adds an independent and functional air to the interior design. BÄRO Individual also supplied custom Ontero IC spotlights with extended arms to highlight the dynamism of the shop design with stepped mounting heights.
Light makes colors look rich and natural
Recessed recessed electrical rails fit into the uncluttered ceiling appearance as precise lines, while Intara CX recessed luminaires are flush with the ceiling, creating islands of light for consultation areas. The use of different light colors such as the warm standard light color 927 (2700k) and the color intensifying special light colors PearlWhite and BeColor support the division of the sales area of approximately 140 m² into different zones. The consistently high color rendering index CRI> 90 for light sources ensures that the colors and surfaces of both the interior and the glass series are perceived naturally and nuanced in their colorful variety. Look good, look good: Rarely has the much-quoted slogan of the optician’s trade been applied so extensively, as at Panis Eyewear in Oisterwijk.
